Books

The following is a list of books I own.

Super Famicom: The Box Art Collection
An excellent art book containing box art work for hundreds of Famicom games along with descriptions and an insight into the creation of each piece.

NES/Famicom: a visual compendium
The ultimate NES artbook. The quality is outstanding and it comes packed with interviews, schematics, maps, pixel art and a wealth of history and information on the NES. Let’s just say this puts the official Nintendo version (Playing With Power: Nintendo NES Classics) to shame.

SNES/Super Famicom: a visual compendium
As with the NES visual compendium, this SNES book is a must for anybody interested in the history and artwork associated with this console. Once again, the quality is outstanding, from the hardback, slipcase presentation to the beautifully laid out spreads and fold out artwork.

Playing With Power: Nintendo NES Classics
Quite a poor book, especially considering it is officially endorsed by Nintendo. The content is light, the pages are flimsy and the printing is low quality. If you’re after a great NES book then stick with Bitmap books excellent “NES/Famicom: a visual compendium”.

The Legend of Zelda: Encyclopedia
The Legend of Zelda: Art & Artifacts
The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia
A trilogy of Zelda books, covering the history and artwork on the games. A massive, high quality collection, if a little unnecessary. Did anybody really need Nintendo to fabricate an “official timeline” of Link’s various adventures”?
